With 19 locations across the Southeast (plus spots coming soon in Huntsville and Durham, North Carolina), Big Bad Breakfast—BBB for short—has grown tremendously since its founding in 2008.

The concept was created by Chef John Currence, who won the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the South in 2009. He wanted to create a place where people could enjoy true Southern-inspired, down-home breakfasts. Having grown up in New Orleans, some of his fondest memories centered around food—including some incredible breakfasts.

“More than anything, I wanted to recapture the flavors of my childhood memory. Things don’t taste the same now with the degree of processing and preservatives/stabilizers added to food.

I wanted people to taste the flavors of my grandfather’s patty sausage and my great grandmother’s biscuits. So that’s exactly what we did.”

PS—Chef Currence is also an author. Check out Pickles, Pigs and Whiskey: Food From My Three Favorite Food Groups And Then Some and Big Bad Breakfast: The Most Important Book Of The Day, both nominated for James Beard Awards.

On the menu, you’ll find classics like biscuits and gravy, breakfast plates loaded with all your favorites, their Big Bad Specialties and much more. Plus, there’s always plenty of fresh coffee (and mimosas), of course. If you’re hungry for lunch, they stay open with a hearty menu of burgers, sandwiches and salads.
