For the first time, Eugene’s Hot Chicken is set to open a new location outside of the Birmingham metro area.

The popular chicken joint started in the Magic City in 2017 and is now headed to the state’s capital.

On Sunday, April 6, Eugene’s posted a graphic to its Instagram page about the restaurant opening a new location in Montgomery. Founder Zebbie Carney confirmed the news on his own social media channels.

This is expected to be the third brick-and-mortar location for the company with the other two currently opened in Birmingham and Hoover. Eugene’s also has a popular food truck that makes regular trips to different spots around central Alabama.

According to the Birmingham Business Journal, the new location will take over where Seafood King used to be near the convention center.

There has been no timetable shared with when Eugene’s expects to open but one thing is for sure: there will be a line out the door on opening day.
