A 70s and 80s-inspired theatre in Florence, Alabama has gotten new life with the opening of Up Late at Vivian Theatre, a new cocktail bar, dance club and venue for concerts and events. Keep reading for all the details.

About Up Late at Vivian Theatre

In 1970, the first fully-automated theater in the Shoals opened—Martin Theatre. In 1988, the spot where locals enjoyed iconic films closed down. Several businesses occupied the space in the years following until the site was abandoned.

However, in 2022, the theatre was renamed to the Vivian Theatre and a project was begun to restore the spot to its former glory—including a handmade disco ball created by Yolanda Baker, featured in Oprah.

Now, this fully functioning theater is home to Up Late at Vivian Theatre, a mixology cocktail bar, club and venue that pays tribute to the 70s and 80s era that the Martin Theatre belonged to.

Where you can find Up Late at Vivian Theatre

Make sure to keep an eye on Up Late’s social media pages for the latest news on events and hours—they’ve already had live music from DJ High Life and DJ Romero as well as a Halloween Night with a horror film and costume content. There’s more to come!
