Wetumpka continues to expand its plan around its newly built sports complex on Coosa River Parkway.

The latest announcement is the addition of Guthrie’s to the River Town Center. The fast food chicken finger restaurant originated in Haleyville and it has 30 locations already in the state + 72 total nationwide.

“We are thrilled to welcome Guthrie’s to Wetumpka. Our City Council has continued to work closely with our Economic Development Department to broker deals so that River Town Center continues to grow as a destination for retail, dining, and family-friendly experiences. Guthrie’s is a perfect fit and another exciting addition for our community.”

Jerry Willis, Wetumpka mayor

This will be the first Guthrie’s in Wetumpka and second in Elmore County as one location sits just inside the county line in Prattville.

Announced tenants for the development include:

  • NextGen Fun Park
  • Tractor Supply Company

The city broke ground on the project in June 2024 with construction continuing throughout this year. These new businesses are expected to open in 2026.

Construction will begin on the Guthrie’s location this fall with an early 2026 opening planned. More details on grand opening celebrations are expected to be announced at a later date.
