New Nick Saban documentary holds premiere event in Tuscaloosa

ESPN’s new original documentary series on Nick Saban’s coaching career dropped Thursday night and a premiere event was held at the Bama Theatre in Tuscaloosa.

Nick and Terry Saban were in attendance, joining community leaders, former players, ESPN personalities and more at the invite-only event. The two also took part of a panel as clips from the docuseries aired throughout the night.

The first episode aired on ESPN Thursday night but all six episodes are available to stream on the ESPN app.

‘Saban’ premiere event in Tuscaloosa

Nick Saban is in town all week as ESPN’s College Gameday crew arrived in Tuscaloosa ahead of Saturday’s Alabama-Georgia game.

The Sabans were certainly the stars of the night but several other big names were in attendance. Alabama alum and ESPN’s Rece Davis hosted the event. Others included:

• Greg Sankey, SEC Commissioner
• Jimmy Sexton, Nick Saban’s agent
• Desmond Howard, College Gameday analyst
• Greg McElroy, former Alabama QB
• Trent Richardson, former Alabama RB
• Scott Cochran, former Alabama strength coach
• Eli Gold, former Alabama football commentator
• Chris Stewart, current Alabama football commentator
• Walt Maddox, Tuscaloosa mayor

Attendees got a first look at some major clips from the docuseries including one of Saban’s decision to turn to Tua Tagovailoa in the 2018 national championship game against Georgia.
