A new Spanish restaurant hailing from Texas is landing in Fairhope soon. Here’s what you need to know about Plane & Level Coastal, an aviation-inspired wine and tapas spot.
Plane & Level Coastal coming to Fairhope
Two food and wine experts lead Plane & Level’s original location in Spring, Texas. Culinary Director Orland Amaro worked in Spain for over ten years, honing in his culinary craft at spots like El Bulli, a 3 Michelin Star restaurant. Thomas Perez, sommelier and winemaker, brings 30+ years of experience to Plane & Level, helping guests discover perfect wines to accompany the tapas.
Their tapas menu changes based on seasonal, local ingredients. One thing you can count on, though, are their famous empanadas.
Here’s a taste of their summer 2023 tapas menu:
- Pulpo a la Plancha: Charbroiled Spanish octopus, potatoes, paprika, confit tomatoes and olives
- Crudo de Atun: Sushi grade bluefin tuna, cucumber, avocado mousse, chive and cashew-soy emulsion
- Piquillo con Queso: Confit piquillo peppers, Tetilla cheese, PX vinegar and paprika aioli
Needless to say, each Plane & Level creation is a burst of flavor. Of course, one of the best parts is pairing their tapas with one of their high-quality wines.
