Nina & Pinta replica boats to be displayed at Joe Wheeler State Park

Replicas of the famous Nina & Pinta boats are returning to Alabama this fall.

The ships will be docked at Joe Wheeler State Park in October, opening for public tours each weekend. Here’s what you need to know:

What to expect to see at the Nina + Pinta

The full-scale replicas of the ships used by Christopher Columbus are operated by the Columbus Foundation. The ships serve as an educational opportunity for all ages.

Built completely by hand by 8th-generation Portuguese shipwrights, the vessel was constructed using only traditional tools identical to those used over 525 years ago. Archaeology Magazine praised the ship, calling it ‘the most historically correct Columbus replica ever built.’ Together the Ships have logged over 250,000 miles and visited over 1000 Ports around the United States, Canada, Caribbean and Central America.”
