You may have heard about the new horror movie everyone is obsessed with, “Obsession,” but did you know the film’s director, Curry Barker, is from Mobile? The 26-year-old Mobilian’s low-budget film has now reached $68.4 million in worldwide ticket sales following its Memorial Day weekend success of $30.4 million domestic earnings.

Last weekend, it beat out blockbusters “Michael” and “The Devil Wears Prada 2” for the No. 2 spot in box office earnings. Keep in mind, this is a film with a production budget that spanned from $750,000 to $1 million.

Here’s how it fared this weekend compared to other box office films:

After an outstanding debut on May 15 that raked in $16.1 million in domestic sales, crowds continued to flock to see “Obsession,” increasing earnings by 76.49% to the $60.7 million it now sits at.
