‘Obsession’ film by Mobile native makes $68.4M worldwide, all on shoestring budget

You may have heard about the new horror movie everyone is obsessed with, “Obsession,” but did you know the film’s director, Curry Barker, is from Mobile? The 26-year-old Mobilian’s low-budget film has now reached $68.4 million in worldwide ticket sales following its Memorial Day weekend success of $30.4 million domestic earnings.
Last weekend, it beat out blockbusters “Michael” and “The Devil Wears Prada 2” for the No. 2 spot in box office earnings. Keep in mind, this is a film with a production budget that spanned from $750,000 to $1 million.
