Only 1 Alabamian remains in competition on The Voice
As of Monday night, there is only one Alabama native still in the running to win NBC’s The Voice. We’ll introduce you to Asher Havon and tell you about the now-eliminated contestants who also call the Yellowhammer State home.
Meet Asher Havon
Asher hails from Selma, Alabama and wowed 75% of judges with his version of “Set Fire to the Rain” during his blind audition. Reba, Dan + Shay and Chance the Rapper all tried to claim Havon on their teams for the season, but he ultimately landed on Team Reba.
Havon has continued to thrill judges – and viewers – with his covers of songs like “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and “Un-Break My Heart.” So much so, he’s won both knockout rounds, although the folks he eliminated were saved by their coaches.
Now, he’s headed to the playoffs. You can catch those this Monday and Tuesday night (April 22 + 23) on NBC.
Other Alabamians turning chairs
Havon wasn’t the only Alabamian to turn chairs this season. A total of four contestants who are from Alabama or call Alabama home made it past the blind audition stage:
- Ducote Talmage, from Auburn
- Val T. Webb, from Birmingham
- Rivers Grayson, from Muscle Shoals
- Corey Curtis, lives in Saraland
After auditions were over, there was at least one Alabamian on every celebrity judge’s team. Asher is on Team Reba, Rivers was on Team John, Val + Corey were on Team Chance and Ducote was on Team Dan + Shay.
