A new Piggly Wiggly store will soon open in Tuscaloosa, filling a recently vacated Winn-Dixie location.
B&W Foods announced plans for the new grocery store in Five Points down University Boulevard, east of the University of Alabama campus and downtown Tuscaloosa.
“This project is about more than opening another store. Five Points has been an important part of this community for a long time, and we feel a real responsibility to bring it back the right way. As a family-owned business, we take pride in investing locally and creating a store our customers can count on for fresh food, friendly service and the dependable shopping experience they expect every day.”
Jay Welborn, co-owner of B&W Foods
The store is currently slated to open in Fall 2026. Additional details regarding the opening timeline will be announced in the coming months.
Piggly Wiggly in Tuscaloosa County
The new store will mark the B&W’s sixth location in Tuscaloosa County and eighth overall, continuing the growth of the family-owned operator behind Piggly Wiggly West Alabama stores.
More than simply opening another grocery store, the company hopes this project reflects a commitment to restoring a trusted neighborhood shopping destination while expanding fresh, full-service offerings for customers in the Tuscaloosa area.
The Five Points location will feature:
- Full-service bakery
- Deli
- Floral department
- Specialty meats
“Our stores have always been about more than just groceries. They’re about relationships. We’re proud to continue that tradition in Five Points and grateful for the support that has allowed us to grow while staying true to who we are.”
