An iconic restaurant in the Wiregrass closed its doors over the weekend, sending shockwaves across the community + the rest of the state.

Cutts Restaurant made the announcement on social media, saying its final day open would be Feb. 13.

“After 60 years… it’s time. Cutts Restaurant will be closing its doors. That sentence is harder to write than we ever imagined. For six decades, this wasn’t just a restaurant… Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the love. Thank you for a legacy that will live on far beyond these walls.”

Cutts Family on Facebook

The restaurant’s history dates back to 1967 when it opened as a country grocery store in Level Plains. Five years later, the family opened the Cutts Snack Bar in Enterprise which would eventually become home to the restaurant’s dining room and lunch buffet.

Four generations of the Cutts family took part in the restaurant before it closed last week.

Its original announcement received more than 1,500 reactions on Facebook along with more than 500 comments and 500 shares. Customers shared memories, favorite dishes and more, thanking the Cutts family.

Sen. Katie Britt, who is from Enterprise, took time to give a shoutout of her own to the restaurant and its owners.

“From grabbing a chili dog when I was young to flying through the meat-and-three line when I was in high school, I have so many wonderful memories around the tables there. Our city won’t be the same without this beloved, family-owned landmark. Thank you to the Cutts family and team who for six decades showed our community and visitors incredible hospitality and delicious food. You will be immensely missed.”
