Prepare for storms: NOAA Radio offline in Central Alabama

Do not depend on your NOAA Weather Radio if you live in the Birmingham metro area, Central Alabama and East Alabama when potential storms roll in this Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service Birmingham Office, a software update to the system was scheduled months in advance between May 19 to May 21. 

In the meantime, make sure to prepare for potential stormy weather Tuesday evening.

 NOAA Weather Radio transmitters will be offline today in the following areas:

  • Winfield
  • Oneonta
  • Birmingham
  • Anniston
  • Tuscaloosa
  • Demopolis
  • Selma
  • Montgomery
  • Auburn
  • Texasville
