Red Lobster closing Montgomery and Huntsville locations

Red Lobster, the popular seafood national restaurant brand, is shuttering two locations in Montgomery and Huntsville on September 6, 2026.
The most recent closings come three months after the chain closed its oldest Alabama restaurant in Vestavia Hills.
The last day for both the Montgomery and Huntsville restaurants is September 6th.
Here are their locations:
- 300 Eastdale Circle in Montgomery
- 1818 University Dr NW in Huntsville
Why Red Lobster closed these sites
In a statement to Montgomery Up, Red Lobster’s corporate office cited its efforts to ensure the company’s long-term success.
“As part of our normal course of business, Red Lobster continuously evaluates individual restaurant performance and lease terms and may, from time to time, choose to close select restaurants. This closure reflected specific decisions tied to the unique operating conditions at this restaurant. We remain committed to making thoughtful decisions that position Red Lobster for long-term success, stability and growth.”
The Montgomery location came as a surprise to locals especially since the establishment recently received a fresh exterior paint job.
What’s next for Red Lobster
Since 2024, the year Red Lobster entered into bankruptcy, the chain has closed permanently and temporarily up to six locations in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Mobile, Decatur and Huntsville.
Presently, only six restaurants remain in Alabama.
