SEC Baseball Tournament schedule set: What you need to know before first pitch

Both Alabama and Auburn have high expectations for the postseason but before a potential trip to Omaha, both teams will head to Hoover this week for the SEC Baseball Tournament.

The Crimson Tide won eight of its finals nine conference games to secure the No. 4 seed, earning a double bye into the quarterfinals of the tournament. It’s the program’s highest seeding since 2009.

Auburn remains higher ranked than its in-state rival in all the national polls but finished sixth in the conference standings to get a single bye.

2026 SEC Baseball Tournament

As a reminder, the tournament now features all 16 conference teams and is just a single-elimination bracket.

There are four games scheduled for each of the first two days with Tuesday + Wednesday featuring two sessions each.

Auburn starts play Wednesday night as the final game of the second round. The Tigers will play the winner of the first round matchup between LSU and Oklahoma.

Alabama is the late game Wednesday night in the first quarterfinals session and will play either Kentucky, Vanderbilt or Florida.

The Crimson Tide is tied for the second most tournament titles in SEC history with seven but it has not won one since 2003. Auburn is looking for its first title since 1998.

Both teams will likely be hosting a regional in the NCAA Tournament and could host the super regional round as well if they make it that far.

If you’ve ever been to the SEC Tournament, you know that the original schedule is almost certain to change. Even with the state’s recent dry condition, it’s hard to go a full week in May without any rain or weather delays.

Here’s the current forecast for the week in Hoover:

  • Tuesday, May 19: 89/69 🌤️
  • Wednesday, May 20: 85/68 🌦️ – Rain showers in the morning, scattered thunderstorms in afternoon/evening
  • Thursday, May 21: 84/69 🌦️ – Scattered thunderstorms developing in the afternoon
  • Friday, May 22: 81/69 🌦️ – Scattered thunderstorms early evening
  • Saturday, May 23: 82/69 ⛈️ – Scattered thunderstorms throughout the day
  • Sunday, May 24: 85/69 ⛈️ – Scattered thunderstorms in afternoon/evening

Thursday and Friday’s scheduled start times are not until 3PM, giving space for postponed + delayed games from the first two rounds to wrap up.
