Could ShoalsFest be returning this year? (City of Florence)

For the first time in over a year, the ShoalsFest social media account has posted a new video and it has created quite the buzz around the community.

The video was just shots from previous ShoalsFest with a live version of a song by Jason Isbell, Shoals native and creator of the festival. The teaser was posted as a collaboration between the ShoalsFest account + Jason Isbell’s Southeastern Records label.

Check out the video for yourself + keep reading for a history of the festival in Florence.

Jason Isbell’s ShoalsFest

The music festival started in 2019 in Florence and happened again in 2021 + 2022 after being forced to skip 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was supposed to come back in 2023 but the event was canceled due to a demanding schedule for Jason Isbell. Later that year, his concert at Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville was branded as a ShoalsFest event.

But then, there was never any news about the potential return in 2024.

75 weeks after its previous Instagram post about the 2023 show, ShoalsFest released its video—on March 31 officially so don’t worry about it being a prank!

Could it mean a return of the festival? And will it be a return to McFarland Park in Florence or to the big stage in Huntsville?

Only time will tell but it’s certainly something we’ll be keeping an eye on.
