Snow sticks the landing on the Auburn Plains
Reading time: 2 minutes

At approximately 11AM on Tuesday, Jan. 21, Auburn had its first sighting of snow this winter. The snow began to stick to the ground, creating Alabama’s equivalent to a winter wonderland.

Throughout Auburn University’s campus, students were fashioning sleds from anything and everything:
- Trash can lids
- Coolers
- Shopping carts
- Laundry baskets
- Traffic drums.
Many students found their way into the Jordan-Hare Stadium, snow angels appearing and snowball fights breaking out not long thereafter.

Some students could be seen being pulled via trucks and tow ropes through Auburn’s streets, even in front of Toomer’s Corner. People were pulled while sitting or standing atop everything from skis to couches, chairs and mattresses.

Auburn University and Lee County Schools have closed down operations all week. While Auburn University is to resume on-campus operations tomorrow, Lee County Schools have announced they will remain closed Friday as well.
