While a high school bank may seem like a novel concept, this is actually Redstone Federal Credit Union’s eighth one in Alabama.

According to a report from WHNT, the new Scottsboro location is run by eight Scottsboro High School students, seven seniors and one sophomore. During the summer, these students trained to be able to run the branch under the supervision of Malinda Sommers, a teacher at Scottsboro High School.

These students will jump-start their careers with real experience and training. Plus, they’ll earn some money in the process. But this isn’t just a pretend branch.

Faculty and staff will be able to use the branch, and students will be able to visit during lunch to open accounts, cash checks and more.
