Good news for margarita fans in Alabama—you may be paying less per drink than the rest of the country.
According to a new study from FinanceBuzz, our state has the lowest average price for a margarita at $6.74—32 percent less than the national average. It’s the fourth year in a row the website has found Alabama has the most affordable margarita.
Alabama is the only state with the average price sitting below $7 and one of just three states to be below $8.

Margaritas mean a lot to us here in Alabama, which could be fueled by Mobile native Jimmy Buffet and his song “Margaritaville” (a new resort is about to break ground in Orange Beach!)
You’ll find some big Cinco de Mayo celebrations happening throughout the state but if you’re looking for something as simple as sitting on a patio + sipping on a margarita, there are plenty of places to make that happen too.
Most affordable margaritas in the U.S.

FinanceBuzz says its collected the price for the smallest “house” lime margarita or equivalent from current online menus from five different restaurants or bars in each state, and then averaged those prices to find the average cost for a margarita in every state.
Across the country, celebrants can expect to shell out $10.03 on average for a margarita on Cinco de Mayo. That average price is over 50 cents higher than it was last year, which amounts to a 6.06% year-over-year increase.
