The City of Talladega recently held a pair of ribbon-cutting ceremonies to officially open two new playgrounds including a fully accessible playground at Veterans Park.
Unity Playground was built to give citizens a place where children of all abilities can play together.
“Our community has dreamed of establishing a truly accessible public playground for many years. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, this dream is now a reality. Unity Playground will help children of all abilities to develop socially, emotionally and physically. It will benefit those who are blind, deaf or deaf/blind; those with diverse health conditions; and those who use wheelchairs.”

The city said there are plans to further enhance the space around the playground. They are asking for donations and sponsorships that would go toward landscaping, fencing and other features.
Talladega also unveiled a second public playground this week, located near Fire Station #2 on Broadway Avenue.
