Tennessee favorite Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant opening in Cullman this year

Legendary Tennessee restaurant and live music venue Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant is opening their first non-Tennessee location in Cullman, Alabama. Set to open by the end of this year, the Cullman location will be Puckett’s seventh restaurant—keep reading to learn more.

A Tennessee Original since 1953

When I first heard the news that Puckett’s planned to open a new location in Cullman, I knew I was the one to write this story. See, I grew up just a few miles away from the original Puckett’s in a very small Tennessee village called Leiper’s Fork.

Founded in 1953, Puckett’s evolved from a small-town country store into a true community icon, with its award-winning restaurant and live, local music. With Open Mic Nights every Thursday, Puckett’s is a place you can see talented young musicians as they work their way up to Music City itself.

In 2022, the original Leiper’s Fork Puckett’s was renamed Fox & Locke, paying homage to the building’s original occupant. However, the Puckett’s name still lives on in six Tennessee locations:

Opening in Cullman in 2022

On May 4th, Tennessee-based hospitality group A. Marshall Hospitality (AMH)—owner of the Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant brand—announced their plans to open a new location in Cullman, Alabama. Located roughly halfway between Huntsville and Birmingham, Cullman is an easy pit-stop for folks traveling along I-65.

But why Cullman? You can thank the “The Alabama Girls”.

“My wife Jan and I have long-standing ties to Cullman. For 15 years, we’ve built a great friendship with whom our family and our associates know lovingly as ‘The Alabama Girls.’ These ladies began visiting Puckett’s restaurants and brought many of their families and neighbors to our restaurants. We’ve even had a menu item named in their honor. We have often thought that the Cullman area would be a great place to have a Puckett’s. Now it’s happening and we look forward to serving and being a part of Cullman.”

The Cullman Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant is scheduled to open by the end of 2022 and will be located on Highway 157.
