Thanksgiving travel surge: Alabama gas prices drop
Reading time: 2 minutes
AAA expects this Thanksgiving holiday week to be the busiest of all time. Fortunately for motorists in Alabama gas prices are down 10 cents a gallon from 2023.
Nationally, the travel group projects 79.9 million travelers will head 50 miles or more from home over the Thanksgiving holiday travel period this week. That is an increase of 1.7 million people compared to last year and 2 million more than in 2019, the busiest Thanksgiving holiday travel year on record.

AAA Alabama recommends getting your car ready for travel, like properly inflating your tires and having routine maintenance on your auto before making long journeys. They also suggest providing more time for travel during the holidays
“You want to be sure to pad your travel time schedule a little bit because with this level of traffic out there, things are going to be moving more slowly. It’s going to take you longer to get to your destination than it typically would otherwise. You don’t want to feel like you’re running late, running behind, and get frustrated.”
