According to Holy City Sinner, The Admiral Hotel has been purchased by Avocet Hospitality Group, a Charleston-based real estate development agency for $21 million. Read on to learn more about the purchase and historic hotel.

The Admiral Hotel is located on Government Street near the heart of Mobile’s Entertainment District and features:
- 157 guest rooms
- 7,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space
- Corner 251 Restaurant & Bar
- Rooftop honey bee colony and herb garden
- Resort-style pool and deck
- And more
It is filled with a rich history and has been a part of Mobile since the 1940s. The hotel has hosted guests like Bob Hope and Elvis Presley and its interior is inspired by the style of art deco, which provides a blast from the past.

Avocet Hospitality Group aims to renew uniquely-situated hotels and restaurants to excite guests. They have successfully done this with two of their other hotel properties:
- The Read House in Chattanooga, Tennessee
- The Vendue in Charleston, South Carolina
The renovations of these two hotels are a combined total of over $48 million.
Avocet’s work doesn’t stop there, they have completed over 11 hotel and restaurant renovations in:
- Gustavia, St. Barthélemy
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
Some of the hotels and restaurants include:
- Bridgeman’s Chophouse in Chattanooga, Tennessee
- Pier 101 Restaraunt & Bar in Folley Beach, South Carolina
- Tides Folly Beach in Folley Beach, South Carolina
- The Rooftop in Charleston, South Carolina
Avocet will work with locals in the Mobile community so they can create a hotel experience that caters to preserving the hotel’s history. They aim to make their hotel renovations with the intention of making guests feel like “they’re a guest of honor at a grand celebration.”
The renovation start date has not yet been announced.
