We’ve reached the day that all The Voice fans have been waiting for—the winner of Season 23 will be revealed tonight, May 23, on NBC. Whether you’ve been keeping up with this season or not, you’ll want to tune in to see if Alabama native D.Smooth wins it all. Read on to learn more about his journey and see his breathtaking live finale performance.

UPDATE 5/24: The results are in and Alabama singer D.Smoove earned a third place spot overall. Congratulations!

From Alabama to the stage

In case you’re unfamiliar, The Voice is a hit show on NBC where contestants perform a song to some of the world’s biggest artists. This season, Chance the Rapper, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan and Blake Shelton are the star-studded coaches lineup.

Each coach can turn their chair to show interest in a voice that they’re impressed by. Each contestant then gets to choose which coaches team they’ll join.

It’s no easy feat to say you’ve impressed Kelly Clarkson and Niall Horan with your singing, but Alabama native D.Smooth made it happen.

Originally hailing from the small rural town of Mulga, Alabama, the 25 year old singer chose the iconic vocal powerhouse Kelly Clarkson to coach him through this season after an impressive audition.

Now living in Montgomery, D.Smooth dedicated his time to pursuing a career in music. The Voice has certainly given him a great launching pad—though coaching workshops, playoffs and “battle” rounds, he’s earned a spot in the top five.

A classic voice

If D.Smooth wins, it’ll be the first time an Alabamian is crowned winner of The Voice. Although the voting period has ended, we’re rooting for him tonight.

“I love D. Smooth’s voice because it reminds me of the ’90s. It just reminds me of those singers that can just really tell you a story and break your heart, do all the things. His voice is incredible.”

In Part 1 of the finale, D.Smooth performed soulful renditions of Johnny Gill’s ‘My, My, My’ and Bobby Caldwell’s ‘What You Won’t Do For Love’.

Chance the Rapper called the performance one of his favorites in the show. His coach Kelly Clarkson called D.Smooth “already a star” for his stellar crowd interactions before, during and after his performance.

See if D.Smooth wins

Make sure to tune in tonight for Part 2 of the finale to see if D.Smooth is taking it all home. There’ll be special performances from CeeLo Green, Diplo & Lily Rose, Maroon 5 and Toosii.

Plus, the finale will include special appearances from Camila Cabello, Jennifer Hudson, Nick Jonas, John Legend, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Usher, Pharrell Williams and Dolly Parton to commemorate Blake Shelton’s final episode.

Watch live tonight, Tuesday, May 23 at 8PM CT on NBC.
