Theodore family sets Guinness World Record for highest combined age of 15 living siblings

A family from Lower Alabama has put their name into the Guinness Book of World Records—for a record you may not know even exists.

The Poiroux siblings, all 15 of them, having their names in the book as the record for “Highest combined age of 15 living siblings.” As of Nov. 17, 2024, the day they entered the record books, the 15 siblings combined to live for 1,142 years + 120 days.

Poiroux family

The Maurice and Mary Poiroux Family came to a consensus to attempt the record title for the highest combined age of 15 living siblings following discussions at their annual family reunion.

While the record was made official in the books last November, the family got notified of the record-breaking experience during this year’s family reunion on Saturday, according to Fox10 News in Mobile.

There is at least one birthday in nine of the calendar’s 12 months with just January, July and September not represented. More than 24 years separate the oldest sibling from the youngest.

The family, along with their birthdays, now includes:

  • Eugene: Dec. 1, 1939
  • Mary: Nov. 18, 1941
  • Henry: Dec. 22, 1943
  • Bobbie: April 4, 1945
