The Third Saturday in October rivalry is alive and well. Plus, it’s always better when the game actually falls on the third Saturday of the month.

Third Saturday in October
Alabama has dominated this rivalry in the last two decades, winning 16 of the last 17 games. The Crimson Tide holds a 59-39-7 record in the all-time series.
Tennessee won the last meeting in Knoxville, making a game-winning field goal as time expired to stop Alabama’s 15-game winning streak in the series.
Over the last 34 years, at least one team has been ranked in every game except one (2000). During that span, 13 games have featured two ranked teams including each year since 2022.
Entering this week, both teams are ranked in the top 11 of the AP Poll. It’s the third time in the last decade that’s happened and the 13th time in the history of the rivalry.

Week 8 schedule
We know plenty of eyes will be on some major national matchups this weekend including Georgia at Texas but there are certainly some big games across every level of college football featuring teams from Alabama.
The week already got started with South Alabama taking down Troy in The Battle of the Belt rivalry game. The 25-9 victory ended the Jaguars’ six-game losing streak in the rivalry.
