This Alabama city is the 6th best place to live in the nation, according to U.S. News

Hoover, home of this week’s SEC Baseball Championship, was ranked the 6th Best Place to Live in the U.S., according to U.S. News and World Report.
U.S. News, the prestigious magazine known for detailed national rankings on colleges, hospitals and communities, released their 2026-2027 Best Places to Live edition today.
Topping this year’s national list was Carmel, IN, followed by Fishers, IN and Flower Mound, TX.
The rankings are based on:
- Affordability
- Desirability
- Job market
- Quality of life
Alabama’s 13 Best Places to Live




In addition to the national rankings, U.S. News released a list of the 13 Best Places to Live in Alabama.
Even though Hoover was the only city in the state of Alabama that cracked U.S. New’s top 40 list, other Alabama cities came close.
Daphne was ranked the second best city in Alabama and 42nd nationally. North Alabama’s Decatur is the third best community to live in the state and the 60th nationally.
