A little sweet treat is sometimes all you need to make it through the day. You know what I’m talking about, a little cinnamon roll when the 2PM sluggishness hits, or a cheeky little tiramisu after dinner.

For those of us who are gluten-free, though, the options can be slim at best. Enter Guncle’s Gluten-Free—Mobile’s only exclusively gluten-free bakery and a recent winner of this summer’s USA Today 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards.

What USA Today had to say

Guncle’s is no stranger to national acclaim. They won first place in the 2023 10Best Reader’s Choice awards and cinched second place this year. Here’s a sample of what USA Today editors had to say:

“Their artisanal approach combines Southern charm with recipes inspired by travels and family traditions, making each visit a unique and tasty experience.”

About Guncle’s Gluten-Free

The “Guncles” started experimenting with gluten-free recipes in the early 2000s after one of them developed a later-in-life gluten intolerance.

Once they’d perfected their recipes for delicious breads, treats and baked goods—they brought them to historic midtown Mobile, opening up a bakery that quickly became a local favorite.

The entire baking facility is gluten-free, meaning you won’t chance any risky cross-contamination, either.

And it’s not just Mobilians that love Guncles. They ship their homemade baked goods all across the country, so you can finally taste a perfect cinnamon roll again (without upsetting your stomach). You can also find their pastries and breads at local coffee shops and grocers across Alabama.

My personal favorites are the chocolate chip cookies—you can’t tell the difference.
