March is here and that means its time for postseason basketball at the college level.

Conference tournaments will take place in the men’s and women’s game over the next couple of weeks before the start of the big tournaments. And as usual, the SEC will take on much of the national spotlight over that time.

The SEC women’s tournament bracket is set with play set to tip off Wednesday, March 5. Alabama missed out on earning a double-bye but the Tide is the 6-seed with a potential second round matchup with rival + 14-seed Auburn.

Keep reading to see the full bracket + learn more about what’s at stake for both teams this week in Greenville.

2025 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament

South Carolina is the top seed in the tournament once again, this time by virtue of winning a coin flip tiebreaker with Texas.

Meanwhile, Alabama lost its regular season finale which dropped the Tide from a tie for fourth place to sixth place in the final standings.

Auburn finished with a 3-13 record in conference play, losing its final six games of the regular season. However, one of those three wins came against Florida, their first-round opponent.

The tournament will be played at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Here’s the full schedule for the week:

What’s at stake

The Tigers will need to win the conference tournament to make a second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

If Auburn gets past the Gators in the first round, it would set up a rematch with Alabama in the second round. The Crimson Tide won the lone matchup between the two teams this season in the Power of Pink game at Coleman Coliseum.

Meanwhile, Alabama has already secured its place in the NCAA Tournament but the team is hoping to secure a top-16 seed. That would allow the Tide to host the first two rounds of the tournament for the first time since 1998.

The Crimson Tide will likely need at least one win to keep its spot among the top 16. Two wins, which would include another victory against LSU, would almost assuredly put Alabama into the tournament as a 3 or 4 seed.

Alabama is also hoping it gets put into one of the two Birmingham regionals in the big dance. The women’s tournament selection show is slated for Sunday, March 16 at 7PM.
