Tide rolls to 6th consecutive women’s wheelchair basketball national title

Alabama women’s wheelchair basketball defeated UT Arlington 55-37 to win the 2026 NIWBT National Championship this weekend in Tucson, Arizona.

This is the Tide’s sixth consecutive National women’s wheelchair title and 12th overall since 2009.

Ixhelt Gonzalez led the team in scoring against UT Arlington with 24 points, while Joy Haizelden was given the tournament MVP award.

The Crimson Tide went 22-3 for the season, including a  15-2 record against the conference.

Auburn wins men’s wheelchair title over Bama

The Tide almost won both men and women championships this past weekend in Arizona. The men came in 2nd losing to arch-rival Auburn 70-59.

The title is the first for the Tigers.
