Tide to play Alabama State in NCAA Regional baseball opener at Tuscaloosa

The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team is taking on SWAC champion Alabama State University in the opening game of the NCAA Regional at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
The Tide earned the right to host the first round after receiving a No.7 seed during the NCAA Baseball Tournament Selection Show.
Joining the Tide and Bama State in the Tuscaloosa Regional are Oklahoma State and University of South Carolina Upstate.
Regional play begins Friday night on May 29, 6:00PM between the two cross state rivals.
How the NCAA Regional Baseball format works
For folks unfamiliar with the NCAA’s Regional format, the “mini-tournament” is double-elimination, with only one team advancing from each of the 16 Regional sites into its respective NCAA Super Regional.
Since the Tide was named a seventh seed nationally, if they win this Regional, they will host the NCAA Tuscaloosa Super Regional the following week.
This is Alabama’s 29th all-time NCAA Tournament appearance. Alabama State is coming off a thrilling weekend in Birmingham winning the SWAC baseball title at Historic Rickwood Field. Expect the Friday night game to be a sellout.
Getting tickets to NCAA Regional in Tuscaloosa
According to the Alabama Athletic Facebook page, fans interested in attending the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional can purchase all-session tickets for $105 beginning Tuesday, May 26, at 9AM.
On Thursday at 9AM single-session tickets will be available for $25Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Alabama Ticket Office windows located inside Coleman Coliseum or online at RollTide.com beginning at 9AM on Tuesday.
