It has undoubtedly been a wild year for college football and with just one more Saturday until we find out the 12-team field for the College Football Playoff, conference championship weekend is crucial for a handful of teams.
One of those teams is James Madison, whose CFP hopes are still alive after moving up in Tuesday night’s rankings.
The Dukes are hoping a win + a Virginia loss in the ACC Championship Game would give James Madison one of the five automatic bids to the playoff.
James Madison is 11-1 with its lone loss coming out of conference to Louisville. Their average margin of victory in conference games was 28.7 which included beating Old Dominion (63-27), one of the two Sun Belt teams to beat Troy this season.
Troy enters Friday night as 23.5-point underdogs, according to ESPN.
While the Trojans have their eyes set on another trophy, playing spoiler for a conference rival may be a nice bonus prize.
