Troy University’s online graphic design program named best in the nation by Forbes Advisor

The online graphic design program at Troy University has received some national attention after being named as the best in the country, according to Forbes Advisor.

Troy’s program topped the list that was determined by:

  • Affordability
  • Student experience
  • Credibility
  • Application process
  • Student outcome

By Forbes’ metrics, Troy’s program easily stood above many of the other schools on the company’s list of graphic design programs.

The student outcome carried much of that weight as Troy ranked near the top of the list in several categories including

  • Graduation rate
  • Student retention rate
  • Median earnings 10 years after graduation
  • Pell grant recipients

Forbes also pointed to students’ ability to learn around their own schedule through Troy’s online program.

“The program core consists of 41 credits and includes studies in foundational areas like graphic design history, user experience design, typography, and the business of art and design. Students must complete a client-focused design studio course and a thesis exhibition showcasing their original work and research.”

Troy has been offering its online program since 2022 but the history of the program dates back further than that. It is now offered in person, online or as a hybrid option.

The university says is program is intentionally modeled to reflect the industry, helping students prepare for jobs beyond college. Graphic design majors work on real-world, professional projects using a variety of resources and media.
