Tuscaloosa Amphitheater getting a new name โ here are the details
The city of Tuscaloosa has landed a big time sponsor for its 12-year-old Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.
Last night, the city announced the venue will be rebranded โMercedes-Benz Amphitheater.โ
The Tuscaloosa City Council will formalize the agreement in the coming weeks with Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. (MBUSI) and Mercedes-Benz U.S.A. (MBUSA) as joint sponsors, according to a Mercedes-Benz news release.
Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater more than a โrebrandingโย
The naming of the popular 7500-seat amphitheater is happening while several other projects are occurring near the venue, including the construction of the Saban Center.
Opening in late 2025, the Saban Center is an innovative community partnership that is bringing together childrenโs organizations, including the Childrenโs Hands-On Museum (CHOM) and the Tuscaloosa Childrenโs Theatre. The innovative STEM hub (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and partnership between the city of Tuscaloosa, state of Alabama and Saban Center was launched in March 2023.
โWe have thoroughly enjoyed our partnership with the Amphitheater for more than a decade and we are eager to take our collaboration to a new level. We are especially excited to connect our brand to the overall plan for The Saban Center and the Cityโs Elevate Tuscaloosa Initiative. These projects are transformational, and they offer great promise and opportunity for Tuscaloosaโs future.โ

Mercedes-Benz special partnership in Tuscaloosa
Once the city of Tuscaloosa and Mercedes-Benz formalize the agreement, concert-goers can expect to see the companyโs familiar 3-pointed star inside and outside the building.
Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox summed up the new partnership best:
โThis extended partnership with Mercedes-Benz is a great next step, and Iโm excited to see the continued growth of the amphitheater, riverfront and city center because of great community partners.โ
The next scheduled major concert at the venue is country superstar Riley Green with Tracy Lawrence & Ella Langley on April 18, 2024.
