The America’s Farmers Market Celebration, a national contest held annually by the American Farmland Trust and the Farmer’s Market Coalition, has declared the Farmers Market at the Tuscaloosa River Market — the Best Farmers Market in Alabama.

The Vote

Each year between June and September, shoppers and supporters vote online for their favorite market. This year the Tuscaloosa Farmers Market edged out Birmingham’s Market at Pepper Place and Bailey Cove Farmers Market at St. Thomas in Huntsville for the 2022 title.

Located on the banks of the Black Warrior River, the city of Tuscaloosa operated market is open every Saturday year-round from 7AM to noon, at 1900 Jack Warner Parkway. It is only a stone’s-throw from the University of Alabama campus.

Free and open to the public, you can expect to see more than 70 local farmers and artisans, along with musical performances.

In addition to coming first in Alabama the Tuscaloosa Farmers Market ranked No. 27 in the Southeast and No. 72 in the United States in the nationwide vote.
