Tavern 1831 has been a staple inside Tuscaloosa’s Temerson Square for over a decade but the bar has announced this weekend’s events will be their last.
Taking to Facebook this week, Tavern 1831 said it will host its A-Day Crawfish Boil on April 12 before permanently closing its doors.
“They say that all good things must come to an end……In 2014, we devised a hair-brained idea to own a bar. We found the perfect spot downtown and took ownership of 1831. We wanted a bar where the staff and patrons felt at home. Our design was an upscale dive bar, which came to life with much construction, painting, staining, antique shopping, and sweat!”
“…We are sad but, at the same time, excited to put more time and energy into our other downtown business. We hope you can make it out to say hello, enjoy a cold beer, and eat some mudbugs! It was a good run, and we couldn’t thank everyone enough.”

Tavern 1831, which sits between Copper Top and Rhythm + Brews, opened in 2014. Customers and fans of the bar quickly flooded the comments with some of their favorite memories of the bar over the years.
