UNA’s Marching Pride arrives in NYC for Thanksgiving Day Parade: How to watch

There will be a familiar name come across your screen when you’re watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday.
The Marching Pride out of the University of North Alabama will be one of 11 marching bands from across the country participating in the 99th annual parade.
Thursday will mark UNA’s first appearance in the prestigious parade known for its giant balloons, floats and superstar performers.
“It is an incredible honor to be selected to represent both the State of Alabama and the University of North Alabama in the Macy’s 2025 Thanksgiving Day Parade. Performing in this iconic event places UNA on a national stage, and it will be a proud moment for our university, our band, and our community.”

The Parade marches 2.5 miles through the heart of New York City, with plenty of public viewing along the route.

“The University of North Alabama Marching Pride has recently celebrated its 75th anniversary. Located in Florence, part of The Shoals region of northwest Alabama, where music is literally “in the water,” as in the Tennessee River—known locally as the Singing River. Florence is the birthplace of the “Father of the Blues” W.C. Handy, as well as the Sam Phillips the founder of Sun Records who brought stars like Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison and others to national predominance. Fame Studios, Muscle Shoals Sound, and many other recording studios are still actively recording and publishing hit songs today. The University of North Alabama Marching Pride is a large part of the music scene in Florence, Alabama.”
