After years of hard work and planning, Dothan City Center is about to go through a major revitalization. City leaders have teamed up with design group RDG to take Dothan to the next level. Read on for all the details on what you can expect.
A revitalized city center
The City of Dothan is just getting started on the big plans they have for the future. In the words of the city, what started as a drop turned into a splash of ideas and collaboration from the community. Now, they’re ready to get started transforming Dothan from the center of the city, out.

The re-imagined Dothan City Center is a paradise for families and residents, with brand-new places to learn, gather, eat, shop and stay. These projects will be completed in phases over multiple years, starting with the new events plaza and opera house enhancements. How big are these new plans, you ask? Let’s dive into the details.
What you’ll find
New Civic Center
Dothan will soon be able to enjoy a large arena that’s double the seating capacity of the current civic center. Now, the impressive arena will seat 6,000 for events and city gatherings.
Wiregrass Arts and Innovation Center
Check out inspiring cultural and artistic programming at the Wiregrass Arts and Innovation Center, complete with innovation space and a black box-style theatre with meeting, rehearsal and convocation rooms.
New parking deck
There will be a brand-new parking deck with additional parking space for events, dining, shopping and hotel guests.
New hotel + shops
Notice how we said hotel guests above? That’s right. Dothan City Center is getting a brand new hotel to enjoy your stay at. Plus, new shops will be built across from the beautifully-renovated historic Dothan Opera House, with an expanded lobby and free event gathering space.
Greenspace
Get ready for a lush and natural touch to downtown Dothan, with plenty of Greenspace outside of the new events plaza and amphitheater that links Foster Street directly to the city center.
A new look for Main Street
Your commute down Main Street has never looked this beautiful, with a new huge roundabout, sculptures and fountains that adorn the entrance to downtown.
