What are the most popular license plates in Alabama?
Reading time: 3 minutes

There are more than 190 license plate tags to choose from in Alabama, so it’s no surprise that some stand out among the rest.
In Alabama, just 18.8% of tag registrants for passenger vehicles elected to get a non-standard tag (the standard designs are the Alabama Travel state plate, the Alabama Bicentennial and the white God Bless America tag), according to the annual registration statistics report from the Alabama Department of Revenue.
In total, 5,433,434 were registered between October 2024 and September 2025.
Many of these tags support local entities (i.e. school districts), nonprofits or colleges, but a large chunk are reserved for members of certain groups or organizations (i.e. armed forces, sororities and fraternities).
