What to know ahead of Bid Days at Alabama + Auburn
Reading time: 3 minutes

August means the start of football season here in Alabama but there’s another annual campus event that could be considered even bigger than a gameday in some cases.
The 2025 Panhellenic Fall Recruitment, more commonly known as Rush Week, has officially begun with thousands of first-year college students taking to the campuses at the University of Alabama and Auburn University.
With classes set to begin next week, Rush Week is used to match those students with their Greek organization. And of course, the sororities will take the spotlight when it all culminates in the annual Bid Day.
Here’s everything you need to know about the final days of recruitment and Bid Days in Tuscaloosa + Auburn.
Alabama bid day
Alabama’s Greek life has received international coverage in recent years, growing in popularity across social media platforms, especially TikTok.
HBO Max did a documentary in 2023 that received mixed reviews from the public and from those involved with Greek life.
Last year, nearly 2500 women earned bids to a sorority at the end of Rush Week in Alabama. Recruitment has reached roughly that same number in each year since the pandemic.
Rush Week officially started in Tuscaloosa on Saturday with the Convocation at Coleman Coliseum. Here’s the rest of the schedule:
- Monday, August 11: Philanthropy Day I (Sorority Row)
- Tuesday, August 12: Philanthropy Day II (Sorority Row)
- Wednesday, August 13: Philanthropy Day III (Sorority Row)
- Thursday, August 14: Sisterhood Day I (Sorority Row)
- Friday, August 15: Sisterhood Day II (Sorority Row)
- Saturday, August 16: Preference Day (Sorority Row)
- Sunday, August 17: Bid Day (Bryant Denny Stadium & Sorority Row)
Bids will be distributed in-person at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Sunday morning, just before the roughly 2,500 people rush toward their new sorority houses on campus.
If there is inclement weather, bids will be distributed via email. The email will include additional information about an opportunity for the new members to come to the chapter house at a specific time later that day, as well as information about available accommodations for those who do not wish to visit the chapter house in person.
The first day of classes in Tuscaloosa is set for Wednesday, Aug. 20
Auburn bid day
While Auburn may not get the same amount of attention as its in-state rival when it comes to rush week, they still have one of the largest recruitment events in the country.
Last year, the university set a new school record with 1,997 new members added to sororities.
Auburn’s recruitment officially started on Aug. 1 with a “pre-recruitment” week of events. The full schedule for the 2025 fall recruitment includes:
- August 1-7: Ice Water Tea Canvas Modules Open
