What’s more Alabama-coded than a business expo in a Piggly Wiggly? We went to one.

When I saw ads for a business expo at a local grocery store, a Piggly Wiggly no less, I thought, “Only in Alabama.” To be fair, it is a food & business expo – but the novelty of the Piggly Wiggly venue was everything to me. So I, of course, immediately made plans to go to the Taste of Saraland Business Expo – and I’m taking you with me!

More than 60 local vendors packed into The Saraland Piggly Wiggly for the unconventional expo, hosted by the Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce.

Karna Smith with the Chamber says it’s not the most traditional of venues, but it fits the city’s needs.

We found in the past few years when we did our business expo that we had great participation from vendors, but not as much foot traffic as we would like. So we decided to…give it a little bit of flavor….We partnered with Piggy Wiggly to combine our business expo and our food vendors.

Local favorite food vendors like Cammie’s Old Dutch, and Aztecas Restaurant & Cantina lined the aisles with non-food vendors like L.A. Faith Garden Center & Outdoor Care and Dakota’s Medicine Bath & More to showcase their newest, most popular, newest products.

But the best part to this Content Producer? The samples! So many yummy samples of Gulf Coast classics everywhere I turned. They also had door prizes & raffles – with the proceeds benefitting the Women’s Resource Center.
