This year, Mardi Gras arrives earlier than usual on February 13 (the day before Valentine’s Day!). Naturally, Alabama’s already gearing up for some all-out celebrations, and we’ve got all the details on when the party’s getting started. Keep reading for all the details.

When Mardi Gras starts in Mobile

Of course, we have to talk about Mobile first—after all, it’s where Mardi Gras got its start. Festivities are kicking off as early as January 6 with the lighting of the Mardi Gras Tree:

Following this exciting event are the many parades through the streets of Mobile County. The first is the Krewe de la Dauphine parade on Saturday, January 13. After that, about 40 more parades will be happening through Fat Tuesday. Check out the full 2024 schedule from Visit Mobile.
