The history behind the park
McFarland Park is located along the Tennessee River and near the mouth of Cypress Creek. The area that is now home to the park has been inhabited by people for thousands of years due to the rich water system that runs through.
The Mussels that are found in the Tennessee River and the bicep shape of the river in this area are the reason behind the name “Muscle Shoals.” Nearby the park you can find the Florence Mound, which also has a very rich history dating back to archaic people.
