Wind Creek State Park boosts RV amenities + introduces 5 luxury cottages

Wind Creek State Park, located south of Alexander City on Alabama Highway 128, added some new amenities for visitors, including some beautiful new cabins.
The improvements began in March last year, Lake Magazine reported. The project included:
- Five cottages
- Expansion of RV pads
- Addition of 50-AMP power for RV visitors
- Greater ADA-compliant accessibility

Many of the upgrades were necessary to stay competitive among RV campgrounds as technology has evolved, said Chris Blankenship, commissioner of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
“We realize electrical upgrades are not the sexiest project to talk about, but we’ve learned that many RV owners simply won’t stay at a campground without adequate electrical service. That’s why 50-AMP service, which was once a luxury, is now a necessity and an expectation.”

The new Lakeside Cottages have a sleek, modern feel while still embracing the nature that surrounds them. All five cottages have a view of the water and massive windows to show off Alabama’s natural beauty.
Each cottage has three bedrooms and three bathrooms each, making them the perfect venue for a family getaway. The cottages also include a coffee maker, firepit, fireplace, kitchen utensils, linens, a microwave, patio furniture, a porch, stove, TV and WiFi.
The cottage additions now bring the total number of cabins at Wind Creek to 11 — two of those are handicap-accessible.
