Winter Storm 2025: List of Alabama schools and government offices closing January 10

Numerous schools, local government offices and community agencies are closing across North and Central Alabama on Friday, January 10 in preparation for the first winter storm of 2025.
On Wednesday morning the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham Office issued a Winter Storm Watch from Shelby County to the Alabama stateline.
According to NWS, the “impactful winter weather” will begin Thursday night and last till Friday. Potential snowfall forecasts in North Alabama have ranged throughout the week from a couple of inches to nine inches.

- All National Park Service sites will be closed 01/09/25 in observance of President Carter’s funeral. They will remain closed 01/10 to 13/25 due to the severe winter weather potential
- Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA) MAX Transit – Routes delayed
