As usual, the state of Alabama cannot seem to make up its mind about what kind of weather to throw our way.

Last month, it was snow on the beach. Then we saw 80 degree temperatures to start February. Last week, it was tornadoes. And now, more winter weather may be coming to North Alabama.

Several counties have been put under a Winter Weather Advisory for Tuesday night + Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday night’s Winter Weather Advisory covers 19 Alabama counties including:

  • Blount
  • Cherokee
  • Colbert
  • Cullman
  • DeKalb
  • Etowah
  • Fayette
  • Franklin
  • Jackson
  • Lamar
  • Lauderdale
  • Lawrence
  • Limestone
  • Madison
  • Marion
  • Marshall
  • Morgan
  • Walker
  • Winston

This means there is a chance of snow + ice accumulating in these counties. The advisory will be in effect starting at 9PM Tuesday + is currently set to last until as late as 11AM Wednesday.

“A disturbance will bring rain to much of Alabama tonight, but wintry precipitation is likely tonight over the northern counties where cold air remains in place… A ‘wintry mix’ of snow along with some sleet and freezing rain is likely after midnight tonight over the northern quarter of the state, and some travel impact is likely due to icy conditions mainly on bridges.”
