When starting to look for an apartment, what is the first thing that catches your eye? Affordability, commute time and location are all important things to consider on your apartment hunt. Student life can be hard enough and apartment hunting can come across as intimidating, especially when you’re on the lookout for something affordable and convenient for you. Luckily, we’ve got you covered with a convenient list of great options if you’re looking to try something new this fall. Read on for our advice and five Mobile apartment options.

Starting out

My advice for a successful journey in apartment hunting is creating a list of “must—haves” and things that you’re willing to budge on for the sake of being realistic. For example, a few of my must-haves are washer + dryer connections and a pet-friendly apartment complex, I know many other pet parents can agree. If you’re a student, you may find that a decent commute time to campus will play a huge part in finding your perfect fit. Finding what fits your schedule and lifestyle best is always the first step.

With that being said, it is always important to go into your search with an open mind. You never know what you might discover when you think outside of the box. Don’t be scared to leave some things off of your checklist—you may realize that they may not have been as important as you felt they were initially.

1. Hillcrest Commons

Personal notes: A sweet perk for signing with the Hillcrest Commons is that if you work at The University of South Alabama, you get a discount. Also, it is VERY close to campus as well as the brand new Hancock Whitney Stadium, so commuting and attending football games will be a breeze!

2. 701 South Apartments

3. Lakeview at Cottage Hill & Inverness Lakes

4. Kingswood Apartment Homes

5. Huntleigh Woods Apartments

The overview

Ultimately, there are a lot of options close to The University of South Alabama and Springhill college that are relatively affordable for college students. If you don’t want to live on campus or deal with the hassle of finding a roommate, apartment hunting may be the way to go for you. All of these options listed above are great starter apartments for first-time renters or college freshmen.
