Your guide to the 2024 Iron Bowl
Reading time: 4 minutes
There aren’t many days more important to the entire state of Alabama than Iron Bowl Saturday.
Between enjoying your Thanksgiving feast and time with family + friends, there’s usually at least a small dose of trash talk happening around the table or television over the next couple of days.
But that’s what the rivalry is all about. One of many reasons why this rivalry is the best in all of college football.

Pregame in Tuscaloosa
For those looking for the full gameday experience, you’ll need to get to Tuscaloosa pretty early.
SEC Nation, the weekly pregame show on SEC Network, will be live just across University Boulevard from Denny Chimes. They’ll be surrounded by tailgaters and fans of both teams as the friendly part of the rivalry takes place before kickoff. The show starts at 9AM.
The Champions Lane and Legends Lounge just outside the stadium opens at 10:30AM. There will be live music, a live pregame show from the Crimson Tide Sports Network, beer tents, food trucks and more leading up to kickoff.
At 12:10PM, Alabama players and coaches will arrive at the stadium for the Walk of Champions.
In previous Iron Bowls in Tuscaloosa, Auburn fans have set up an impromptu Tiger Walk around the same time on the west side of the stadium but new security measures and fences in Tuscaloosa could impact that.
Alabama’s Elephant Stomp pep rally at Gorgas Library is scheduled for 1:30PM.
What’s at stake?
Alabama’s loss to Oklahoma last week certainly impacted the national hype around this game but there is still plenty to play for this Saturday.
For Auburn, a win would mean the Tigers finish the regular season on a three-game winning streak to secure a bowl bid. The team is looking for its first bowl win since 2019. A win over Alabama would also give Auburn the chance to end its three-year streak of losing seasons.
Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide is hoping to still have an outside shot at the new 12-team College Football Playoff. Alabama will need plenty of help but the team knows it needs to beat Auburn to have any chance.
Plus, a win Saturday would still give the Tide a chance to extend its streak of 16 consecutive double-digit win seasons.
Alabama is searching for its fifth straight win in the rivalry which would be the Tide’s longest winning streak against Auburn since it won nine in a row from 1973 to 1981.
