10 new stops added to Alabama Birding Trails

The Alabama Birding Trails program has officially added 10 new sites across the state, including a pair of trails on Forever Wild property.
There is now 280 total birding trails across 65 counties. The program helps detail parks and nature trails around Alabama, helping both residents and visitors find the best spots for bird watching.

10 sites added to statewide program
The Alabama Birding Trail says the new additions bring a depth and richness to already popular locations in our state. The new sites included:
- Wehle Forever Wild Tract (Midway)
- Yates Lake Forever Wild Tract (Tallassee)
- Cahluga Creek Park (Heflin)
- Flagg Mountain (Weogufka)
- Lee County Public Fishing Lake (Opelika)
- Louise Kreher Forest Ecology Preserve an Nature Center (Auburn)
- Minooka Park (Jemison)
- Moss Rock Preserve (Hoover)
- Shades Creek Greenway (Homewood)
- Smith Mountain Fire Tower (Dadeville)
Site managers at each location will now work with naturalists and birders to develop resources, helping first-time visitors experience all the sites have to offer.
Alabama Birding Trails
The Alabama Birding Trails project provides a major attraction for nature-loving tourists, while offering opportunities for Alabama’s school groups, families, and seasoned birders.
With over 430 bird species documented in the state, there’s something for everyone to enjoy as Alabamians demonstrate a growing interest in wildlife observation.
