$120 million AUBix data center opens in Auburn

Auburn is back at it again with another exciting opening!

Governor Kay Ivey Ivey joined a group of local officials at the grand opening of $120 million AUBix data center Monday, March 22. Read on to learn more!

What is AUBix?

AUBix is a mission-critical data center designed to enhance technology access in the area. It’s where data access meets cybersecurity.

The opening will be a huge asset to the community. Not only will AUBix lay the groundwork for businesses, but the organization will support academic research and development as well!

The 40,000 square-foot facility will bring new technology opportunities to underserved areas throughout Alabama. People will be able to use higher-speed networks for a much better internet performance.

AUBix is located on West Samford Avenue, only a few steps away from Auburn’s Industrial Park. The data center is filled with space for equipment storage, conference rooms and offices.

The governor made a trip to Auburn to celebrate the data center opening and praise its contributions to Alabama.

“I’m thrilled to see the AUBix data center project come to fruition and begin serving the high-tech needs of Alabama businesses, this project is a success for not only Auburn but the entire state of Alabama, equipping our rural communities to compete in global marketplaces.”

For many communities in Alabama, consistent internet is not so easy to come by. Many rural, underserved communities lack broadband services. Creators of AUBix recognized the need of reliable service and created this state-of-the-art center to change it.

According to Governor Ivey, the multi-million dollar data center will mean a lot for the economic development of the state. The organization will be a great tool for more than just internet providers. Research operations, healthcare companies, financial services and other entities will also utilize all that AUBix brings to the community.

Auburn Mayor Ron Anders looks forward to what the opening will do for the town.
