2 Alabama singers join Riley Green’s team on new season of The Voice

This season of The Voice on NBC was always going to have some extra Alabama flair added to the mix with Jacksonville native Riley Green joining the coaching staff.

And Green got some in-state company during the season premiere as a pair of Alabama singers impressed during Monday night’s blind auditions.

Caroline Alexis of Ozark and Joe Henley of Grand Bay both joined Team Riley, looking to become the third singer from Alabama to win The Voice in the last three years. Alexiaa Jay won in Season 29 while Asher Havon won Season 25.

Caroline Alexis balancing law degree with music dreams

Caroline Alexis is from Ozark and graduated from Troy University where she was crowned Miss Troy University in 2022. More recently, she served as Miss Volunteer Alabama 2025.

So she’s no stranger to the stage and she showed that during her blind audition while singing “Take Me There” by Rascal Flatts.

Riley Green was the only coach to turn a chair for the performance, making the choice easy for Caroline.

“Someone with an accent that I recognize from my home state of Alabama. I love your tone, I love the song choice, I love the way you performed it.”

Caroline also recently graduated from law school at Faulkner University, saying she has been studying for the bar exam during her down time before the audition. Now, she’ll get to keep juggling both.

Grand Bay native Joe Henley gets to perform with Riley Green

If you just heard the first note of Joe Henley’s blind audition, you may surprised to find out he’s just 19 years old. But that’s all Riley Green and Kelly Clarkson needed to hear before turning their chairs.

Henley showcased his deep voice while singing Travis Tritt’s “Anymore.” But he got to sing another when Riley Green joined him on stage to sing Green’s song “My Way.”

The Grand Bay native said Green was among his influences along with:

• Travis Tritt
• Keith Whitley
• Don Williams
• George Strait

And while Clarkson tried to make her case for the country singer, Henley made his choice after getting to sing with his future coach.

“I love you Miss Kelly, so much I promise. but I’m going to go with Mr. Riley Green.”

The Voice Season 30

This was just the first episode of the new season with more Alabama singers possibly on the way.

The next two episodes air this week on Tuesday, Sep. 22 and Wednesday, Sep. 23. There are six total episodes for the blind auditions which will wrap up Oct. 6.
